Weekend rambing

I love weddings!  In fact ... I'm going to one this afternoon ~ Can't wait!

I took today off - I should be in bed right now but instead am heading out to Mountain Bike...
Almost everyone going to the wedding today including the Bride and Groom are running a marathon this morning ~ so the least I could do is go for a ride.

Missing everyone that is at Boobs this weekend - not many blogs to read and I'm dying to see photos.

Yesterday I ran 5K to keep sane before work ~ fall running is the best!

I have been drinking S'bux like its my job and am jittery and jacked up with energy these days - not a great feeling but need it to get through this week of work.

Food - I've not been that hungry - but when I do eat I've been making not so great decisions... pooh -
I'd like to see 159 on Wednesday's weigh in...not unrealistic if I keep it together through the weekend.

Get out and do something today!

I leave you with this little gem of a finished basement I stumbled upon on my daily travels.... I like to call it "period specific" cerca 1973

NY RE scheduled and weigh in

****This just in - 160.4*****
Not sure what the loss is but I think its good - since last week I saw 164....bounce around much?  - Thanks to Ronnie for all the support!

So Life got in the way yesterday and I didn't make it to the big bad Apple.  Finished up work meetings at 5:30...So its Today!  Shopping list in hand ~ its on.

My biking boyfriend and his wife had a baby yesterday - I am happy for them but will be wearing black this week mourning the loss of my friend.  For he will forever be a slave to diapers, play dates and whatever else turns fun people into minivan cab drivers....booooo.
On a better note  - she has the best name ever Eleanor Bee!  So cute.

Do I have to get up at 6am today? no.  Could I stay in bed until 7:30 and then roll into the office at 9?  Totally. But I am up and getting ready to run.  I can't face driving to NY without having some miles in these legs...

I may weigh in today instead of tomorrow - I was down to 161.4 - so we'll see...

Tomorrow is the photo shoot I have been waiting for....surprisingly I am unprepared - haven't picked my before photo to bring, no clue what I'm going to wear...and haven't written my essay yet.  The good news - I'm going to be going right to the shoot from shopping in NY with my stylist KLF - and  she'll be with me.  hoorah!  She has been with me from size 22 to size 8 - I cant get dressed without her - YOU ROCK KLF!

I'll have tons of photos from NY - yay.   and yes - THAI FOOD

Weekend Re- cap

From the Bridge in Sag Harbor - on my ride at 7:15 in the morning

First off ~ made my 50 mile goal for the week - crammed in a 20 mile bike ride yesterday before work to get it done - first solo ride on the road...and I got a flat at mile 10...managed to fix it all by myself ***super awesome**

Went shopping on Saturday with my awesome stylist KLF.  Got seven jeans/cords, two dresses, shoes, a blazer and the standard button down RL dress shirt.  Going to NYC this afternoon to finish the project.

Manda Panda at candyland to bandland had a great post about goal - I could have written the same post word for word.  I have decided the following - per my text to Ronnie over the weekend  "I'm calling Goal at 155 - and when I'm back into my 8's.  - that's six pounds away and a lot of boot camp and toning"  I think that 145 is not going to happen.  I don't want to live in a place where I have to starve and spend 3 hours a day working out to maintain an unrealistic #.  I started this journey to be able to live free from anxiety over my body - I'm pretty much there.

Plan for this week:

Going to NY Today - hello Thai Food!
Get in my 50 miles -
Boot camp or TRX
Its going to be a great week!

Friday Check in..

Following the rules is helping...
Yesterday, I rode 20 miles
Went to yoga, only to discover it was cancelled..thats why this exercise addict made sure she got in a workout before yoga...just in case (yes I'm a little mental).  My friend and I are on a fitness kick - signing up for unlimited yoga for the fall and zumba and going to start weight lifting....
Mo is coming home tonight! Yay!

This is my food for the Friday:

Atkins Shake 160 cal
Wellness Smoothie ?? no clue on cals - had berries, spinach, flax and protein powder - guessing 250?
Small Cottage cheese 90 cal 10 g protein
Atkins Shake 160
handfull of roasted edamame ? 130cal and 14 prot?
cup of mushroom barley soup ? probably close to 500?
hazelnut candy bar - WTF.....630! and 9g - and it wasnt even good - not worth the calories
Amy's indian meal - 270 and 9 g protein
protein shake - 300 and 18 g
Whats the total ? 2490 ish... I road my bike and the garmin claims I burned 1100 cal
I actually in my head thought this wasn't too bad of a day until I did the math..

Today's Plan = for fighting chocolate melt down
100 oz of water
2 green teas
more roasted edamame
cottage cheese
This is S'mai missing her dad ...she is NOT allowed in the bed and she snuck in

This is Mo on his "work" trip..yeah right!

Ten Things Thursday!

1.  Followed the guide lines my new life coach gave me yesterday.

2.  I did have a glass and a half of wine last night....I feel groggy this morning...blech

3.  5:50 the alarm went off - going road riding then to yoga....
Its 6:11 now and I want to go back to bed

4.  Yesterday I ran into the mother of the girl I was talking about with the high blood pressure...she said the girl is better but has to take meds and loose weight - the weight is the main reason she had the problem in the first place - no symptoms, it was discovered at a routine check up.  I told her if her daughter wanted to get active and learn to mountain bike I would love to take her anytime.  Mission Accomplished.

5.  Mo is still away....its my last day on my own...I'll be watching flipping out tonight..I love me some Jeff Lewis!

6.  Work is busy....thats a great thing

7.  Planning a girls getaway to nyc on monday-tues.  Yay!

8.  I will not go back to bed - I will search out some warm bike clothes and get my ass out of the house under the cover of dark and push some miles....

9. Gwyenth Paltrow is an inspiration and all of US who bitch that skinny people have it easy. I need to remember that its not always genes:  I love this quote: The reason that I can be 38 and have two kids and wear a bikini is because I work my [expletive] ass off. It’s not an accident. It’s not luck, it’s not fairy dust, it’s not good genes. It’s killing myself for an hour and a half five days a week, but what I get out of it is relative to what I put into it. That’s what I try to do in all areas of my life.”

10 - Gotta get on the bike - have a kick ass day - and drink your water....she says to herself!

Advice ~ weigh in wednesday postponed..

I've been moping around wishing I could hire a life coach (other than Ed the dog) who would get me back on track and tell me how to loose again.
I need a mentor....then I remembered....wait I know someone.   She is very close to me and has had success with the lap band - has lost 80 pounds and turned her life around.
Who is it?
Its This Girl

I asked her how does one lose weight and get from 241 to 162 er ish...

  • Drink 100 oz of water a day
  • Exercise six days a week - two of those include strength training - working out twice a day won't kill you
  • Eat Real Food - even if its a pain in the ass and takes a while to eat
  • Sliders are not OK!
  • You have to replace old habits with new ones - instead of reaching for sweets when you are stressed out, have some tea
  • Find an activity that you love and do it over and over and over again - Biking would fit that description.
  • It is not okay to reward yourself with food
  • Have a plan and stick to it.
  • You will get to goal if you follow the rules
  • Its always going to be work - you have to make it part of your lifestyle

Its not rocket science....follow the have come this far...

September 2010 around 215/220

Badfish ~ randomness

I can't get blobfish out of my head.   I now have the lyrics to Badfish in my head....I heart Sublime...

In other news - Mo is out of town for the week....I do love that man but am loving having the house/bed to myself.  Its really nice.

My nutritionist emailed me yesterday - she has been telling patients about my blog and using it as a tool for people!  So Cool - so Hello to anyone reading this from Dr Mehta's office!
I will be going to the October support meeting
Have my photo shoot next week for the not at the weight I was hoping for ..but whatev.

There is impending rain on the way today, so I have to hustle off the couch to go MTB - Going for speed this morning ~ and may even do a sit up or two.

I need to focus more on weights and strength training.....I may rock on the bike but shit is getting muffiney top.

I love my band - yesterday I stopped in at my favorite health food store - ordered a panini and grabbed pretzels too - I ended up giving away half of the sandwich and the bag of pretzels.

Whats with the fear of hunger?  Every time I get hungry, I am stricken with fear of I've ever been a starving child on an  I get dizzy and panic sets in...then I see stars ...low blood pressure - this then results in panic eating...
perhaps I should be packing snacks?
Just thinking out loud....
gotta get on the bike!
Have a great Tuesday and move your body!
oh - and more Blobfish ... - mascot ?

Some Badfish for you!

This is a Blobfish -
I will not be a blobfish this week

This fish is the weirdest looking sea creature. What's worse is that this animal is just as lazy as it looks and barely expends any energy even eating, making sure it gobbles up whatever just happens to be floating by at the moment the flesh of the blobfish is primarily a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than water; this allows the fish to float above the sea floor without expending energy on swimming. Its relative lack of muscle is not a disadvantage as it primarily swallows edible matter that floats in front of it

Last week - I met my 50 mile goal!
Happy monday!

High Blood Pressure

I am that judgy nosey neighbor -

there is a family on my street - everyone is big - the kids are huge - I so desperately want to get the kids on bikes - they used to ride bikes around the block - then one of them got a motorized scooter and those days are over.  My heart goes out to the teenage girl - I know all too well the pain of being a big girl - high school and boys can be so cruel.

I'm friends on facebook with the mother of these kids - we wave and say hello on the street but not much more than that. She always posts about loving to lay on the couch and watch nascar or how nice it is to have a rainy day so she doesn't have to do anything.  The photos she posts are all of a darkened house with the shades drawn.  Its obviously a family culture of obesity. It makes me so sad - I have always wanted to take these kids in the woods and get them cruising on bikes.  Mo says not to get involved.

My situation was different - I was the food addict in my family - both of my parents were into exercise and eating healthy ~ it was beaten into my head that I should eat healthy and exercise - I rebelled and became a closet eater/binger with a disorder.

This morning I saw on Facebook that they were asking for prayers as their teenage daughter is in the Hospital with high blood pressure.
This makes me so sad.  I just want to reach out and help her - they have seen me go from 241 to where I am now and - see me run past the house and bike all over the place.  So I would be coming from a place of understanding....
I just don't know how to reach out or if I shouldn't try.

Moving On!

Yesterday -

Food -
Protein Shake
PB Choc Bar - vegan
Date Oat square - vegan
Handful of chips
Handful (ok- 3) of spicy nuts
Half of a slice of pizza
A beer

Exercise - MTB to the memorial in the woods

Overall I didn't eat much but the quality of food was horrendous...
It was a bit of a nutty day - but a huge release to be on the other side of a year - I still haven't erased his # from my phone....I just cant do it yet...

I made my little speech - nothing crazy - I just wanted everyone to think about the good times and focus on the laughter...I'm horrible at public speaking - so I had a beer prior - it helped

Today's Plan -
Protein shake
Run Dogs on Beach
Get more atkins shakes
have a salad for lunch
fruit for snacks
Mountain Bike after work
dinner -Amy's

The Birthday Cake - Mo did the art work

Mo posing with my friends b-day gift - awesome!

At the Memeorial

I take photos of my bike like people take photos of their kids - and i'm not ashamed!

The after party - for Andrew

10 Things Thursday

1.  Its a year since Andrew died...I miss him.  But I also feel relief that we are healing and that the drama of the last year is behind us. What a long trip its been - I know he'd be proud of me and happy that things are more peaceful now

2. Today - I have to speak at a little memorial that we are holding in the trails....makes me nervous as hell - I may just tell dirty jokes because he would want that. :)

3.  Yesterday - damn that toxic cake!  I had every intention of saying no - but it was warm and yellow....its ok - I'm not hating on myself

4.  I love all of my followers - thanks for the comments and support - it always seems that when i'm about to make a bad decision I get an email comment that will turn it around for me.

5.  I hate having to be serious....perhaps clown college is next

6.  I had a dream Beyonce was asking me what I do for work outs...

7.  NYC - banning large sugary thats a hot topic - people are going nuts over this - too much government... perhaps, but that same government has to pay the bill in health care when people get sick from so much sugar...if they would ban crap from the check out asile - that would be even better.

8.  Fall rules!

9. Mo is going to California next week to go to a conference and play golf - I'm stoked to have the bed to myself - I'm gonna hog the whole thing like its my job.   I'll miss him but it will be nice to have the house to myself...

10.  Going for a MTB Ride this afternoon to the memorial.. Its funny how people turn someone into something they were not once they are dead.
He would never have wanted any hooplah or drama....just a quite walk in the woods or bike, it is what it is - see you in the next life ghosty!

Weigh in Wednesday!

Last week - 162.4
This week 162.2
Loss - .2
I'll take it since yesterday the scale said 165...

Yesterday was a wakeup call -  I went to the outlets shopping with a friend.  First of all, I haven't been shopping outside of TJ Maxx and Target in years.  I had no idea the wonders that the outlets hold!  Kate Spade - yes please!  Lucky Brand jeans - hells yes, Polo, Calvin, Banana and so much more!   I was dizzy with wonder.

It would have been awesome if I had 3 Large to blow on clothing, it would have been even more awesome if I wasn't a size larger than I want to be and yup my 10s were tight as flip.

This is not going to be a whiny post - I've turned it around.  Yesterday I ate clean/sugar free and went MTB with Mo and a friend.  Yay!  As Kelly pointed out yesterday, everyone has days where they go off the rails - even the skinny people - its how fast you get back to good habits and healthy lifestyle that matters.

I bought two dresses - will post photos at some point - I was looking for the fall version of the "sun dress" - easy slip on and go - Victory!  My  favorite of the two is a Valerie Bertinelli dress - so funny - I'm one moment away from being a lifetime for women made for tv drama...ha!

The craziest thing about yesterday was shopping with my friend - she is gorgeous, 5'8 and size 6 - but she is usually a size 4.  She was having the same drama about clothes fitting that I was.  Its funny when you are able to get out of your own fat girl drama and realize that, yes - everyone has clothes drama and no matter what size you are, if don't feel your best, you are not going to be happy or look your best.

We are going to put our heads down and get down a size and try shopping in October - In the mean while, I'll be making a wish list.

Plan for today -
Run 5K
protein packed lunch - not sure what yet but it must have protein!
Its my friends Birthday today and I am making a box cake - I'm going to think of it a toxic (which it basically is) and NOT have any!

Tuesday, September 11, 2012

Here's the truth about yesterday....
Frozen yogurt for breakfast with rainbow sprinkles
Tofu curry for snack
1 chocolate covered grahm cracker
4 spoonfuls of frosting from the can - while texting Ronnie ...her advice - throw that shit away!
Lunch with a friend - half of a quesadilla
Dinner out with family - vegan butternut squash soup
1 piece of bread
1 glass of wine
a few bites of dinner
Got home - had  more leftover tofu curry
frozen yogurt with sprinkles
Then I got stuck on the fro yo - grrrrrrr

There are my sins

The best part about the day is I went MTB on my favorite loop with my friend Otto.  It was epic- weather was perfect - my single speed felt right - everything felt right!
I said to Otto that I feel normal in the woods - I think its similar to why a drug addict has to take drugs to feel normal.

My Plan for today - Its a new day - start fresh!
Protein Shake for breakfast
Tofu curry for lunch
Atkins shake for snack
soup for dinner.
Going MTB with boys today after work - no humidity and its about 50 degrees here this morning - I L O VE I T!!!!!

This is my life coach

Monday ~ randomness

Weekend re-cap:
I had a totally nutz weekend with work and yesterday was Mo's Birthday!
Saturday was one of those days that just keeps going and I meant to be prepared food wise but there were peanut m&ms involved and a whole lot of snacking - but I made it through the day...barely.
Sunday was an awesome day for Mo!
We started the day out having breakfast with my in laws at a little restaurant on a golf course - pre band I would have had a short stack or a waffle with whip cream and hash that I'm banded - mornings are tight - so it was lots of coffee and few spoonfuls of oatmeal.

Then we went to a Jazz brunch - not my choice and neither one of is into Jazz but Mo scored some tickets and the singer is world famous ~ so we went.  Now, I get super twitchy in places where I can't get out quickly and this venue was one of those - in a room with one exit and assigned seating around little tables with lunch served and there was no way to get up and leave if you wanted to slip out early without disrupting the entire performance.... thank god there was wine - I ended up getting plowed to make it through the event -3  hours on a beautiful day but it wasn't horrible - and Mo always likes to try new things. As he said yesterday - sometimes you just gotta roll the dice - very profound...ha! I told him I'm getting that tattooed on my arm!
Post Jazz lunch - we went MTB - very interesting as I was pretty tipsy but nice none the less!
We had friends for dinner and it was the first time I've cooked in months - coconut curry tofu...and fresh sweet corn..mmmm
oh and I made one of those awesome cakes from the box - classy!
I love my Mo.
Its back to work today and fall is in the air - I desperately need to go shopping - brrrrr

Not sure why I just ate a bowl of frozen yogurt with sprinkles for breakfast - could be because I told Mo to throw out the cake so I wouldn't eat it - subconscious rebellion?

I'm going MTB again today - its good to be back in the woods!
Plan for the week - get in 60 miles run/bike

This week is going to be a rough one for me - its the 1 year anniversary of Andrew's death on Thursday, this is what I had to say about it last year .   So, I'm going to be kind to myself and just get through it.

TTT!!!! Yeah Boyeeeeeee Flavor Flaaaav

Um ...not sure where the flavor flav outburst just came from.....

1. Went on the road this morning - 24 ish miles - beautiful morning!

2. Got the email with the information for the calendar photo shoot in three weeks! Time to buckle down and get to the 150s!

3. Going for a mani pedi this afternoon - mainly b/c I had a meeting with a man who had better looking nails than me this morning and I am shamed into getting my hooves shod!

4.  Been running and eating well for the past few days - its a start

5.  Last 20-30 pound challenge - who wants in? - I've never finished a challenge or directed one so I have no clue how to do it.  Anyone want to join in for a balls to the wall goal challenge? Miss Lorie's suggestion.

6. My house smells like dog.

7. I thought I had more to say

8. Flavor Flaaaav

9. I will not have a snack right now even though I really want one because it will not taste as good as I think it will....

10. My jeans feel snug.......balls.

This was at the end of my street this morning -
makes riding at 6:15 in the morning worth it!

Weigh in Wednesday -its back!

This week - 162.4

I've got some work to do - like twenty pounds - the same 20 I've been talking about for almost a year!  I just cant believe it!

Yesterday I ran/walked just under 3 miles - I forgot to eat and it was humid out so the pace was horrible and I felt like crap!
Food  was ok -
protein shake
veggie burger
chick peas
sun chips - not great
Nut cluster - instead of candy but they were packed with calories
Watermelon margarita - whoops
veggie burger

Today -
I had a protein shake
will be bringing watermelon and rice and beans to work
have a client lunch - I usually don't eat much at these as I get really tight when I'm out.
Mountain Bike  after work - hells yes!
Dinner - I have an Amy's Tamale dinner ready to go!

I love this time of year!

Monday, September 3, 2012

Today, after uploading my garmin to daily mile (NERD) I looked at the total milage so far for the year - its 1133!  I asked Mo if he thought I could crush it to 2000 miles for the year ~ he said hells yes - thats easy at 50 Miles a week.  I'm going to try and do the rest of the year with 75% MTB 10% Run and 15% Road Miles....
Game on!  Its crazy how this adds up!

Had a great Labor Day in the Woods today - First day of the season!  I road about 14 miles on a clear beautiful day with friends.

No complaints here...

Serpents Back Trail....wooohooo

Cyrills Overlook - looking back across the stretch to Amagansett
