A few years back I took tennis lessons - Mo runs a tennis a club and I thought I'd give it a go.
I learned a few things...
1. My enthusiasm and energy can not be contained to jut one court
2. I have great racquet speed - whatever that means
3. I am not "type A" enough to enjoy the sport
4. I had a habit of "partying" after I hit a great shot - meaning I was too busy high fiving myself and patting myself on the back to be ready for the next shot...I would always miss the return shot
5. Tennis is not for me.
#4 is a metaphor for my lap band journey - I've come so far and then started to party and celebrate -loosing sight of the next goal or rest of the journey...
I recently read a blog post written by the guys who did the Buried Life show on MTV - the one where they drive around in an RV crossing crazy stuff they never dreamed possible off their bucket list ~ their enthusiasm and drive for dreaming bigger than they could have thought has inspired me to set my top ten HOLY SHIT I NEVER IN MY WILDEST DREAMS WOULD I HAVE EVER THOUGHT WERE POSSIBLE GOALS:
Here they are in no particular order ~
1. Maintain a "normal" weight for the rest of my life
2. Live in Indonesia for a few years
3. Learn how to fly a plane
4. Make 10 Million Dollars
5. Own 20 income producing properties
6. Meet the Dali Lama and have a meaningful conversation with him
7. Fly First Class
8. Make a difference in 10 peoples lives
9. Anonymously give away 10 million dollars
10. Retire Mo :) so he can play golf every day
HAPPY TUESDAY MORNING!
I love the idea of making a HOLY SHIT LIST. I may have to conjure one up.
ReplyDeleteToo funny about the tennis. I would be the same way partying and high fiving myself. I can just picture it.
I think I need to make a holy shit list!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great idea, a step above the bucket list.
ReplyDeleteI don't like tennis either.
Tennis isn't for me either... I think all the best people are no good at it. ;)
ReplyDeleteI love playing tennis and I always party after I hit the shot, which my fiance a type A tennis player who plays for a club gets ridiculous annoyed at ha ha.
ReplyDeleteI love your idea of your HOLY SHIT I NEVER IN MY WILDEST DREAMS WOULD I HAVE EVER THOUGHT WERE POSSIBLE GOALS.
However I have a feeling that you may have already achieved goal 8: Make a difference in 10 peoples lives.
Reading your blog inspires me to everyday try harder which in turn is making a difference in my life and I am sure I am not the only one who has had the same experience when reading your blog.
Hope you are having a wonderful week.
xx
I live my life by a holy shit list. I am also the person cutting up magazines and making the vision boards. :-) I think it's a great idea!! BTW . . .I did have the great fortune of seeing the Dali Lama live at an event up here (no conversation though). It was an amazing experience I'll remember forever. Good luck with your list and have fun knocking them off.
ReplyDeleteI'm a "party after the shot" kinda girl too! Seems like after every 10 pound loss I stall for a bit. Maybe because my body needs a minute, maybe I'm partying my victory a little hard.
